No National Tourney

March 15, 2017

School officials from Memphis (Tenn.) East High School asked the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association Board of Control for a waiver to allow its nationally-ranked boys' basketball team to play in the Dick's Sporting Goods National Tournament. According to an article from the Memphis Commercial Appeal, the request was denied.

After receiving word that the appeal was turned down, Shelby County Schools Superintendent Dorsey Hopson, reacted quickly on Twitter.

“Very disappointed that @tssaa denied our request to allow nationally ranked @EastMustangs to play in national tournament in New York.”
