ASBA’s Library: How Can it Help You?

April 3, 2018

It’s a scene that plays out every day: an athletic director or a coach is told the school, at long last, will be renovating the athletic field that has seen better days. Or maybe the county has decided to construct one super-stadium to host several high schools’ football games – and they really want a showpiece. Or maybe you’ve just had a budget approved to have some repairs done on a track. Or you need sand volleyball courts. Or the gym floor needs a new surface. Or…

No matter what the scenario, it often falls on the athletic director’s shoulders to make it a success. Being informed about the facility – and the decisions that need to be made – is the most important first step to take.

The American Sports Builders Association (ASBA), the professional organization for design professionals, contractors and suppliers of materials and equipment to the sports construction industry, stands ready to help. Its library of publications – all affordable and all available in both hard copy and electronic format – is an excellent resource.

Publications are written in user-friendly terms and address many of the questions faced by A.D.s, including how to get started, how to choose a design professional and a contractor, what surfaces to consider, the type of amenities and accessories that will be needed and more. Best of all, all publications have been written by committees of industry professionals who focus on staying on top of trends, technologies and concerns.

ASBA’s technical publications, including popular and well-regarded Construction and Maintenance Manual series, are constantly being updated.  We invite you to make sure you have the most updated issues of the following:
